I think people who advocate for this procedure do not know what the procedure it. Here is a quick overview of it:

The method of abortion is most often used in the period between 18 and 26 weeks gestation, but sometimes later. During this period, the baby or fetus is expelled by having a doctor induce premature labor. The baby is partially extracted from the womb, the doctor pokes a tool into the skull and sucks out the brain, killing the baby/fetus.

A great majority of fetuses/newborns exposed to this procedure would legally be "live births" as defined in state and federal law. Those at or past about 23 weeks would have the capacity for long-term survival, referred to as "viability."

So basically Congress outlawed this type of abortion. 65 senators voted for this procedure to be banned, including Harry Reid who was on the news the other day bashing the Supreme Court decision about upholding the ban on it.

Here is a list of who voted for and against it:

US House of Representatives

US Senate:
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=1&vote=00402

So when you see a congressman / woman complaining about this decision, see how they voted before you open your mouth.

Becase its convenient for them. They can then continue to be sleezy, have laxed social values and get pregnant, and not have to be responsbile for their disgusting actions. Its all about enabling them to do it by giving them the out. Remove the easy way out and most of this slaughter will stop. How do you get rid of this failed liberal humanisim program is the question.

Oh, and for the uninformed who I am sure will be spewing their rights trash here. Abortion is not a right. Its nowhere in the Constitution, and no, the right to privacy has nothing to do with it under the 9th. The only reason its even allowed is because the left wing wacko's infiltrated the Supreme Court with their ilk and made law from the bench. In all reality Roe vs Wade is illegal. To be a right you need a Constitutional amendment which requires an act of congress. They haven't gone there...

I remeber back when, a European lady was informed that she will be having twins. Because of her financial situation, she went along with the doctor's suggestion and had the partial abortion. I don't think this woman comprehended the procedure that doctors do to preform partial abortons. I watched a program that perform partial and late term abortions. The baby is ripped to pieces. The doctors use implements which they insert into the woman's uterus and piece by piece the doctor is ripping the baby apart. When the doctor takes the implement out of the woman's uterus, he/she is pulling out the baby's arm, leg, ect. A different implement squeezes the baby's head, cracking the skull, to force what's left of the baby out of the woman's uterus. I think the woman needs to feel the same torture, and then maybe, they would understand pain.

Women should not be allowed to have a partial birth abortion just because they changed their minds at the last second.

But, there are cases when a woman may have to choose between her life or the baby's life. In those situations, it is completely up to her and her god. No one, not you, and not the courts, has the right to judge her for whatever decision she makes.

I haven't met anyone yet who think it's ok. You should know whether or not you want to have the kid before the second trimester. I think every lib agrees with that. Get your head out of your @$$ and go talk to some of the libs at your school. I think you will find that they are not all bad like you think!!!

You have A LOT to learn.

Although I am pro choice, I find partial birth abortions reprehensible. I can see how the hard core pro choice people are against the partial birth abortion ban though. Not because they agree with the policy but because of where this ban will lead. Will it lead to banning of second trimester abortions? Will it lead to government notification of abortion?

I still think its disgusting though.

I only think a partial birth abortion should be allowed if the life of the mother is at risk. Either way, it is a confidential medical procedure, and it is not the buisness of the government to ban it if it can save a woman's life.

I agree. If people really knew what the procedure entailed and how dangerous it is to the mother, I think we could all agree that partial birth abortion is inhumane.

Try getting some information from sources other than shrill pro-life blogs.

Pro-life isn't about saving the unborn. It's about controlling women.

As an aside. You know what amazes me is that a number of people are calling women who get pregnanat stupid and dumb. So, there seems to be a lot of inadvertant ways to say women are too stupid to make a decision about their future and if they were dumb enough to have sex they were dumb enough to be pregnant. It strikes me as strange.
