Manhattan, NY: My court appointed defense attorney is virtually brain dead, neglectful, and about 22 years old (no offense). I simply can not let her represent me. She already allowed me to be sent to jail for 2 nights before I made bail.. and I have no criminal history whatsoever. My case was adjourned this morning until May 17, where I MUST show up with my own attorney. I have a little money but not much and I am looking for a lawyer who can help me. Preferably a good one (don't laugh). I'm charged with Grand Larceny (D Felony). I have a copy of the complaint against me and will be receiving my complete case file tomorrow morning from that nitwit attorney I mentioned above. Can someone help me?

By the way, when I wrote that she allowed me to spend 2 nights in jail, I don't mean that I stayed in the "Tombs".. I was sent to Riker's Island and I should NOT have been.

It seems to me you have a few options.

1) Ask for a continuance to obtain better representation.
2) Contact legal aid.
3) Hire an attorney that will allow you to make payments.

Best wishes.

Not to be mean but for not getting in trouble before you sure picked a big one to start with.. As for them letting you sit in jail for 2 nights.. There is a paper process with everything.. You can fire you lawyer and hire a new one, you can ask your Judge for a new one due to conflict of interest.. But anyway you go you are going to get the same thing.. Lawyers are paid to do there job not judge you, they will work the best they can for you ALL of them.. Good luck

Nope, you father does not stand a wager in he**. for the reason which you're 15, basically attempt to maintain the peace in the intervening time till you're sixteen, then your dad isn't waiting to do something for useful.
