Do you think the overwhelming amount of hatred and ridicule of Jewish people found in this group of Y!A is representative of national sentiment ?

I'm not one of those "anti-semitism" police, but It's surprising to hear all the anti-Jewish comments on here.

Honestly, I've been just astonished at the hatred towards Jews I've seen on here. And usually from some idiot who considers themselves to be enlightened. <> I hope to God that it's not representative of the national sentiment. It certainly doesn't represent anyone *I* know.

Pretty pathetic, isn't it?

I must admit I was really surprised at the depth of the hatred and gross ignorance of these "people." And I differ with those who say that it's mostly about Israel. I've said this before and I wonder if anyone has taken me up on this. Type Jews into the "Search for questions" bar and then click "Advanced" and ask for Open Questions and see what comes up. Probably 60-70% of the questions are not about Israel; they are about Jews. And as far as Israel is concerned...does this mean that because Israel does something you do not approve of, you should hate all Jews no matter where they live? If that's so, then do you think the world would be justified if they hated all Americans everywhere because of something their government does? I'm appalled at the spiteful, mean-spirited comments about Jews every day on YA. I think a lot of the hatred and ridicule is done by losers with no real lives of their own and who need someone to blame for their own miseries -- sort of like the psychotic monster who shot all those people at Virginia Tech.

It's not just National sentiment...This feeling seems to be World Wide.

I personally do not hate Jews or for that matter anyone else as far as Race. There are good and bad in all Races...including my own.

The hate against the Jews has been going on for Centuries but it is even more prominent these days because Israel tends to over react on some things.

If Israel changes it's attitude, maybe World Wide opinion against Jews would change as well.

The same goes for the USA...We were once the most respected Nation and now we are hated almost World Wide too and that is mainly because of our foreign policies.

The first positive step for Israel would be to let the Palestinians create their own state next to Israel. When it almost happened in the 1990's, what ruined any chance of a Palestinian State was the subject of Jerusalem.

In my opinion, Jerusalem should not be a choice for Israel or Palestine to claim as a Capital City. It should be branded an International City which is controlled by both the Israeli's and the Palestinians.

If they are going to have any chance of living together as neighbors, they are both going to have to compromise and work together.

No not at all, most of America actually backs Israel.

But like they say, "The empty can rattles the most" so the anti-semites just talk above the ones who dont regard the jews as a seperate people but just other americans.

Nah, there's just a bunch of Muslim spammers on this site. You should have seen them when Israel went after hezbollah in Lebanon. You can pretty much tell them by their use of the word "zionist"- since neither jews nor christians have much used the word since the middle ages. I can't say I really understand the concept of "Trolling for Allah", but then if you look at the Religion and Spirituality page, christians and atheists do it too. Nuts will be nuts.

No. The internet allows isolated people to build a support on the internet to things they can't admit to in public.

They just have their soapbox set up here because it they stood on a corner and shouted this nonsense somebody would punch their lights out.

I think it is another testament to resounding xenophobia and ethnocentrism that is redefining modern American society.
