listened to the peace and quiet, and wondered "If these trees could talk, what would they have to say?". Things like "Boy, we sure had a bad winter that one year", or "Yeah, we had a wild fire 100 years ago, when I was just a sapling", or "I have this one bird that I could just wrap my limbs around and strangle".

Isn' that a very peaceful thing to do. You do sit and wonder what the trees and animals are thinking. I can sit there and think in my mind what they would tell me if they could. WHy there is a mark on them. DO they miss the tree next to then that was knocked down by the wind or old age. You can get lost just sitting in the woods thinking.

Yes , I have sat in the woods and contemplated just these thoughts . So old , so wisened they sit in their unspoken knowledge of time gone by . I have hunted in the mangrove forests for shell fish and crabs and sat on their narly limbs while cooking up pippies , listening to their creaking songs . I think they must get upset when an annoying crow lands or want me to shift my weight when I sit down . But when they hear us laughing as we bite into succulent crabs , I think they don't mind . We will leave behind some juicy scraps for them .
