I wouldn't buy too many NB sizes...Babies grow quite quickly. I would buy the 3M ones. They are inexpensive at WalMart. It depends on how often you are going to be able to do laundry. I would budget for at least 2-3 a day. One first thing...one in case of a wetness or mess, and one clean before bed. They shrink quite quickly in teh wash as well.

How big of a baby were you? Your husband? how big are the 2 of you now?
If the answer to any of those is "really big" than don't stock up like crazy in the 0-3 and I would even be hesitant in the 3-6.
My son was huge and wore 0-3 for 1 week and 3-6 for 2 weeks and after that was 6-9 for the longest time.
Also, most onesies are used under the "real" outfits, maybe not necessary in July?? I don't know where you live.
I would say, 3 a day for the first 3 months. And you figure out how often you would be doing laundry.

go to a consignment store and buy a weeks worth of onesies for nb, 3, 6months. You may use two a day, so buy roughly 10 of each size. ON the NB size, you may not need as many, depending on how big your baby is.

Just One Year from Target--My daughter could wear those FOREVER. Great investment.

First off Congrats!!! As fars as onesies go I would get 15-20 for 0-3 months. THe weather is going to be warm so you will not want to have too much on the little one.Next you are going to go through a few of them a day untill you get use to changing diapers. I would recommend getting the Gerber brand as well. Then stretch better and are a bit bigger.I had some Carter's brand ones. They were nice as well. I would wait to buy other sizes untill you see how fast your little ones grows. My son is 7 1/2month s and is still in 3-6 months ones. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!!!!

I had a 7lb baby and the NB onesies were tight. You will need at least ... 10 onesies. 0-3 months. Get colorful ones also cause like another person said it is about to be summer and the baby could just wear the onesie.

Well ... do you live in a warm climate? How often are you going to have your child in onesies? I put my daughter in onesies sometimes, but I put her in a lot of blanket sleepers too. Little babies get cold incredibly fast. You should at least have a few of the blanket sleepers for after her bath, when she'll be really cold. How many you need partially depends on if you have your own washer and dryer, or if you go to a laundromat. Little babies will spit up a lot, and sometimes need their clothes changed a number of times a day. You may have to change her 4 or 5 times a day when she first comes home. And if you're formula feeding you may have to soak your babies' clothes for a while before they're ready for washing. I think I had at least 20 newborn onesies and the same number of 3 month ones and she would go through them. When they get a little older you shouldn't need quite so many. So, you really should get as many as you can :o) ... maybe 30 to be safe? But if you don't want to get that many, don't forget you can always wash them in the sink and hang them to dry. I did that sometimes ... they're so little they dry fast.

You'll probably get a ton if you are having a baby shower.

But I'd say around 7-10 in each size because some babies get sick or spitup a lot on their clothes so you might have to change them a lot. But in the NB size I'd say you could do with a five pack because your child more than likely won't be wearing that size for long.

Onesies are used like t-shirts. I would think that you would need about 7 per week. Keep in mind though, that this is a very common item to receive at your baby shower. You should wait and see what sizes you get as gifts and then get others as needed. You will be using them up through the toddler years.

Actually, I found out that it is correct!

I had about 8 onesies for each size:
0-3
3-6
6-9
12 months
18 months
24 months
A hint about onesies: DON"T buy onesies that have buttons on the back.....they are uncomfortable for babies when they sleep on their back.

Don't get anything with collars, either...after one washing, the collar flips up in the baby's face, and you definitely won't have time to be ironing baby collars all day.

8 is sufficient, but you DO need them for every size. Pants can overlap ages, but onesies are pretty specific to age, and you need all sizes.

One more huge hint about clothing....If you have a GIRL, don't ask for dresses. You will find out that a baby girl can't wear a dress between the age she starts creeping/crawling up until when she has learned to walk. (babies trip/get tangled in their dresses when they are trying to crawl.)

I wasted so much money on dresses for age 6-12 months because my daughter got stuck once she started to walk. My daughter started walking at 10 months, and I could put a dress on her safely at 12 months.

My daughter is now 11 weeks old. She is still in her 0-3 months size for onesies and I have about 15 in this size. This has worked out well for us and I have never run out before I do her laundry. I think it kinda depends on how often you are planning on doing laundry for your baby. I wash a load of hers about once every 7-8 days.
