Why not let the government decide ALL medical procedures! And let's let them make those decisions during election time, too. What could possible be wrong with that?

Jahpson, how ironic that the GOP doesn't want socialized medicine, but want to control women's bodies. See? It goes both ways. I understand why you can't answer the question.

lol, I realize many of you have a personal agendda with my question, but this is NOT in reference to partial birth abortion, so stop flaming. Answer the question.

articchick, don't tell me what I know, I do not agree that abortion is murder. Also, it is different because they can put a baby up for adoption. That is the whole reason why bortion is legal...because it cannot grom outside the woman. I believe that viability determines life. So, if it can survive outside the womb, it is murder. And YOU know it! lol

What people don't understand is that if you let the government (on ANY level) legislate abortion, you are allowing them to legislate other medical procedures because it is unConstitutional to legislate on a case-by-case basis in this country; you cannot pass a law outlawing abortion specifically. It's the same reason Terri's Law didn't stick either; you can't pass a law saying that Michael Schiavo is not allowed to disconnect Terri Schiavo's life support. You can pass a law saying that no one is ever allowed to disconnect anyone's life support... but you cannot legislate one person, or one medical procedure.

I have issues with the procedure. But I also wanted to add that I DO try to remember, at least sometimes, that this is a very personal issue for the women involved, and that the debate gets very coldly impersonal and analytical, not to mention downright insulting and nasty, at times. "Close your legs, sl*t" or other common insults don't do anything AT ALL to advance the debate. The movie "If These Walls Could Talk" (Demi Moore) personalized the desperation that can occur about as much as I have ever seen on film. (Actually, it's rarely, if ever, dealt with on film. Michael Corleone's wife in Godfather II doesn't exactly count!)

I'm not saying I understand where every woman is coming from. In fact, some surveys show that a higher percentage of women are anti-abortion than men are.

But I appreciate that I can NEVER quite understand from that point of view. So that's a start.

Preventing abortion is not "controlling women's bodies", it just prevents a generally unnecessary medical procedure from being performed on it. If breast enhancements above a GG cup size were made illegal, would that be "controlling women's bodies"? Why isn't the ban on prostitution considered "controlling women's bodies"?

Why are women so against accepting the consequence of their own decision to engage in sex?

Even per conservative estimates, at least 93% of all abortions are for convenience, not for any medical issues.

Is the growing human life inside a woman, with its own unique DNA and a heartbeat, so evil and hideous that it should be burned to death in a saline solution, or hacked into tiny pieces or have its skull punctured and its brains suctioned out?

So, your mad because they banned partial birth abortion, eh?

A proceedure where they literally reach in the womb and rip the babys limbs off, break its back and tear its head off or other things to bring about destruction so that the baby wont be born, or, they may let it come out feet first and put a suction needle to its head and suck its brains out so that it doesnt live, when its only a second or two from being born!

Yea, everyone should go through THAT proceedure while being born, so that we can all be better people, when we come out in parts, eh?

I'm all for saving the Mothers life, "if" she is in danger, but, not murdering the baby only seconds before its born, just so the Mother doesnt have to be "burden" with another child... Thats plain old MURDER in my book, and I dont care what you call it, you cant sugar coat THAT!

Those Doctors that perform that type of abortion should be right up there with Doctor Mengela! Butchers all of them...

So, if thats your goal, to bring it back, I hope it never comes back and all abortions are stopped. The LORD put them in there and we have the choice, rip 'em apart, or let them be born and if you dont want them, give them up for adoption! People are in waiting lines to adopt children, who cant have them! What a tragedy...

I wish you well...

Jesse

After reading the story about the version of abortions they banned on Yahoo this morning, I was disturbed. If you get an abortion early thats on you. But the story read the fetuses are removed, and then their heads are crushed or sliced. Thats the most disguisting thing I have ever heard. So let me say it again, if you have an early stage abortion, you have to live with that not me. If you pull out a baby and crush its head, you need help...

The partial birth abortion ban only upsets me because it doesn't exclude for the health of the mother. Otherwise I find the practice of partial birth abortion horrible.

Scary thoughts aren't they? A forced upon us early election season? More trash being recycled and fabricated, guilty before innocence abounds. If it not for the fact that this election we are sandwiched between two crafty lawyers named Clinton. Masters in deception in my opinion. For that reason I believe Bush is being slaughtered in the press & peoples ideas. First year journalism school they teach the percentage of people who will look at your news will only read the first paragraph. Learn or listen? The percentage dwindles. What better distraction than undermine the current administration. Is that not a communist strategy? Illegal war yet Hill voted for it? Any suicide bomber is a weapon of mass destruction far as I am concerned. Now Chlorine bombs? Hill sez sure I will stay a Senator if reelected. WE really bought that one hook line and sinker.
During these trying times we need to stand up and move forward together. Not rally get rid of Bush or call 4 Impeach. I am sorry but search engine the Clinton Executive Orders and the Body Count. NY Sun Heroes & Cowards. Try and convince me these two are not up to something concerning their own agenda's? Power and control (or lack of ...keeping his pants on) What was WJ doing to protect our soil when he blatently lied during a sexual assault inquiry? That is why he was Impeached. Never removed from office. Not to mention the tv lies we all saw for ourselves.
U decide for yourself. Scary times, bad message in a bad world.

To Jahpson: The irony then works both ways as you allow the gov't to tell women what to do with their bodies in terms of pregnancy but not in any other faction.

So you're ok with a baby being born and having it's skull collapsed to abort it? I love how you call that a "proceedure".

I'm sort of ok with early term abortion, but the late term is totally unacceptable.
