I've never even heard of them and they're the 2nd supporting cast at the Deep Purple concert at Newcastle.
What did they sing?
What kinda music is it?
Any good?

They're excellent. Their albums don't do them justice, however. They are much harder and louder when you get to see them live. They have plenty of great songs like "Babe," "Come Sail Away," "Mr. Roboto," and "The Grand Illusion." My personal favorite is "Blue-Collar Man."

Styx was one of the more popular pop/rock bands of the 70's and early 80's. Mr. Roboto, the video you mentioned, is very atypical of their body of work.

Some of their popular songs include Renegade, Come Sail Away, Blue Collar Man, and Fooling Yourself.

They are a great live band and put on an energetic show.

They were a great band during the late 70's. They have only 3 albums worth buying though and they were the zenith of Styx's career. Check out "Crystal Ball" "The Grand Illusion"( their best ) and "Pieces Of Eight". "Cornerstone" was OK but it was the begginning of the end for me and it was when they sold out to commercial pop garbage. Everything else after that might as well have been called "The Dennis DeYoung Band".

Actually you may wanna check out their work from the early 70s. It's reminiscent of an American Yes.

AVOID their stuff after 1980!

Have a listen to The Grand Illusion album. Great work.

I think Styx is awesome! At least the original lineup was. That's when Dennis DeYoung fronted the band. They recently did a remake of the Beatles' "I Am the Walrus" but I did not much care for it. The original lineup did songs like "Renegade", "Babe", "Lady", "Too Much Time on My Hands", and "Mr. Roboto." Their "Paradise Theater" album rates in my top ten of all time!

They have a decade worth of albums and hit singles. You can hear samples at almost any vendor of recorded product. Try Amazon, Tower, etc and check the samples in a greatest hits collection.
Any good is a matter of taste.

Yes, love their music, songs: Come Sail Away, Babe, Mr. Roboto just to name a few. Go to VH1.com & you listen to a few of thier tunes. The group goes back to the 70's, but a great band!!

Aaahh Styx! I remember going to one of their concerts back in the 70's! That was in America. My memory fails me in my old age so I can't name any of their tunes off the top of my head, but you'll recognise a few when you hear them and think 'Wow, I didn't know they wrote that song!'

Wow... Styx is an incredible group. They sang Mr Roboto (I'm sure you've heard of it)... They had a lot of hits throughout the years.... Included are "Lady", "Babe", and "Come Sail Away".
