only to find it was empty or almost empty ?
I did this morning with the milk carton and it kind of spilled all over !

Yes I have. I do that especially when it's my turn to take the trash out. I thought the trash bag would be heavier than it was and almost threw the trash all over the kitchen because the bag was full but light.

No, but we played a prank on a co-worker once. We were unloading a truck and I was "tossing" boxes of chicken to him from on the bed of the truck. The boxes weighed about 20 pounds each, and so each time he would "brace" himself for the catch.
We emptied a box of the chicken, then pretended it was still full. We tossed it to him, and when it landed in his arms, he overcompensated for it and SMACKO....he hit himself in the face with the box.
ROFL!!!!!

I've actually done the opposite and made a fool out of my self.
There was this rock in science class that was REALLY heavy, and I tried to pick it up with my thumb and pointer finger. Then I told the teacher that it was glued to the table. She came over and picked it up for me. :)

Yeah, I hate that. I also hate when yer walking up the steps and get to the top, thinking there's one more step and you stomp on the floor real hard.

well sometimes I pretend something is extremely heavy and ask for assistance, and when the guy goes to help out, the expression on his face is priceless!
