difference between the humidifier and a vaporizor? Which one would be best to put in a babys room?

To add to what others have said, either one is used as a preventative to any cold, allergy, or other respiratory sickness. There aren't many medications you can give a baby for that sort of thing, so it's recommended to use one for prevention.

We have one of each, bc of my bad allergies, and either one works fine. Just don't let her/him get near it in the future (burns).

Vaporizor lets out things like medicine where a humidifier pulls the bad stuff out of the air...

Humidifiers release cold air while a vaporizers release hot, and i do mean HOT steam. I remember my little brother was sick, i think he was 3 or 4 and he saw the steam coming out of it, (he was in his play pen) he reached over and tried to grab it. Guess what? second degree burns! I have a humidifier for my daughters room for when she gets a cold or anything that would cause her to be stuffy. I highly recommend a humidifier for your babies room.

A humidifier will help with congestion, when we're staying at our house in Az. where it is dry, I constantly have a humidifier running in the nursery, however when we're staying at our Hi. home I run a dehumidifier and air purifier to reduce the mold problems. The noise of the machines running also helps my girls to sleep, its just some white noise all the time so that loud sudden noises don't wake them.

You, your baby, any other children, and any other health provider you have for him should really have a flu shot, the flu is very dangerous at such a young age. As for the coughing, don't use a suppressant a baby needs to cough to get whatever is in there out. Try taking him into a steamy bathroom and put some towels underneath one end of his mattress to elevate him b/c as soon as you lay him flat he'll probably wake up coughing. Give him plenty of that mommy love and care to let him know how much you love him.

A humidifier is good to have if your house is dry. A vaporizer is good if your baby is sick or has a cold and needs to inhale medicine. Both will help your baby breathe better.

With a vaporizer, you can usually add medication such as Vicks...it is more for colds. My nineteen month old lies flat in her crib (of course) and she is constantly stuffy. She probably has allergies. We keep a humidifier in her room to keep her phlegm loose and runny, so that she doesn't wake up all plugged up and unable to breathe in the mornings.

Cool mist humidifier is definitely the way to go. It helps with congestion, but if your child has any allergies to mold, you might not want to use one. My daughter has one and it has cut down on the crusty nose situation.

A cool mist humidifer is recommended because there have been babies burned by the vaporizers.
