In current situation and players.. Ganguli would be the best choice.
Rahu is good batsman but does not have Captain ship quality. He is more inclined on his performance instead of getting from players.
I did not see him actively on field whatever time I watched the game under his captain ship. Dinesh , Pathan were there, but Virender played all games even he was flopped.
A captain should perform as a player but most important job of a Captain ..
1. To select best 11
2 Get the best from team players
3.Keep team together, motivate them
4. Be a good Guy but Bad guy too
I think Ganguli has leadership quality and aggression. He would be the best choice at least for 1 -2 years and make young player like , DInesh, Kaif or Yuraj as Vice-Captain so that after 1-2 years , they would be ready to lead the team.

Sourav Chandidas Ganguly deserves to be the captain of the Indian Cricket Team.
The following excerpts from Wikipedia describe him best:
He went on to become the captain of Indian cricket team from 2000 to 2005. He has led India to the World Cup 2003 finals, and holds the Indian captaincy record for the most Test victories. Following an exit from the national team in early 2006, he was recalled to the Indian Test side in December, staging a successful comeback in the 2006 - 2007 Indian tour of South Africa.
Nicknamed Bengal Tiger, Prince of Calcutta and also affectionately called Dada (which means elder brother in Bengali) by his team-mates and Lord Snooty by his opponents, he is an aggressive player on and off the field.
Based on his performance, that included a Man of the Series Award in the Sri Lankan series, Sourav Ganguly was named in the World Cup Squad.

A big NO! That's all I can say. Dhoni may have the leadership qualities, and may be capable of keeping his cool in tough situations, and winning crucial matches, but his ego, and his reluctance to make use of the experienced players can lead Indian cricket to it's doom! I don't understand why Dhoni has so much hatred against the seniors that he even doesn't bother to consider the value of the experience of the likes of Dravid and Ganguly for the benefit of the team! MS Dhoni never once hesitated to kick out that same Ganguly, to whom he owes his own place in the team-I don't want India to be led by such an ungrateful and arrogant person. Because of him, India lost Dada! I too feel that Sehwag should be given a chance to lead the team. He seems to have the potential to be an excellent skipper.Hopefully, Sehwag as the captain would concentrate on the benefit of the team, rather than focussing on the anti-senior campaign like Dhoni. Dhoni's dirty tactics to keep the seniors out would lead India nowhere even closer to the 2011 WC (which MSD claims to be aiming at), as the team is too disbalanced because of the lack of experience.

I do not find anything wrong in Dravid continuing as Captain for some more time. After he retires either Yuvaraj Singh or Dinesh Karthik are the good potential for captaincy

Shilpa Shetty. She can wear down the entire opposite team the night before the match.
