Freedom of speech? He was fired, not arrested.

There is nothing about employment rights in the constitution.

NO!!!!! What worries me is that two black men have so much power that they can cry rape and 3 innocent white men can be charged with rape, go to jail, be put through hell just to be found innocent and the two "preachers" are too cowardly to even offer an apology!!!!!!!!

Do you mean worrying in that Imus has freedom of speech or that he is an idiot? Yes, he is allowed to say what he wishes. While you, or I, or the general public may not agree, he has the right. I can not fault him for having an opinion. I have opinions that people do not agree with. However, the girls he was talking about are striving to better themselves. They are HS graduates, athletes, and in essence bettering society. These girls did not deserve what was said. Imus just picked the wrong group of girls to use his generalizations on this day...No one would have complained if the group shown would have been inmates in a prison riot. At this may have been proper in this matter...But, not when speaking of women who are out trying to better themselves, their school, and the public. Should someone defend Imus and his rights? Yes... Should someone defend his choices? Not necessarily. There is a place and time.

I for one, am not defending him. His big mouth finally got him into trouble. I listened to him once via his tv talk show & found him to be very annoying & not a bit humorous. He knew what he was saying & as the saying goes, if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all. There are white gals on the Rutger's basketball team too, didn't Imus realize that? Maybe the day Imus made that infamous comment, he was doing crack & drinking on his show. He told that about himself in an interview, I recently saw on tv. Doing that while on the air was not unusual for him, so he has said.

**bushisamoron** We're all entitled to our opinions & slamming people because they don't agree with you, isn't respectful.

I don't think so many are defending Imus as pointing out the inequality. What is worrying is that some believe it is alright for Jackson to talk about 'hymie town' but not for some unknown shock-jock to be a shock-jock. I had never heard of him before and would have been perfectly happy never to have heard of him. But, everywhere, Jackson and Sharpton spew their racism and are defended by the freedom of speech argument.

People are defending him because his right to free speech has been trampled all over not because he spouted off racist blather.

What I don't understand is Imus is pretty much irrelevant anyway. The coach and team from Rutgers would have shown much more power over him if they treated him that way instead of whining about how hurt they were that he made the comments.

It isn't worrying because so many have done far worse that he has and have not been punished nearly as much and in most cases, not at all. I say that Carlos Mencia needs to be removed from television. Why does he even have a deal? He is dreadfully stupid and not funny.

No - I think it's worse that people are defending the rappers and their disgusting "songs"
