How about:
" It could be better or worse "
Though honestly I lean toward "it could be worse"
Seems like people trying to make it better, usually make it worse and people trying to make it worse are unlikely to accidentally make things better. So while things are not wonderful, "it could be worse."

I don't see how either one could be more true than the other, because they're both true. If this is a "half full/half empty question", that isn't a matter of agreement, as with a fact, but rather a matter of attitude. I could say that I agree that "it could be better" more, but that would only mean that I choose to focus on how bad things are right now. Conversely, if I thought "it could be worse" seemed more accurate, then my existing outlook would be more positive. Factually, there is little disputing that things could be either better or worse.

I agree with "It could be worse" more. Seems like you would be saying the same thing without giving the impression of complaining and sounding grateful that things are not worse at the same time.

I believe both. There is always room for improvement since we are imperfect beings. At the same time when we go through hard times we don't realize that so many people are going through much worse and surviving. in every situation "it could be better or worse"

Life can always be better, or worse.
It could be better: Sophia Bush could do a Playboy photoshoot.
It could be worse: George W. Bush could do a Playboy photoshoot.

if we say "it could be better" it means we already feel bad. if we say "it could be worst" we're trying to make ourselves feel better. are they true I'm not sure, i guess it could always be better or worst but i think what we all really need is balance, a combination of the two.

Depends on the situation, mostly i like to think 'it could be worse' especially when i'm down. Somehow, it gives me hope...........i also say to myself "this too shall pass."
