Like if I wanted one to come every day and sweep, vacum, mop, do a load of laundry, load the dishwasher, make the beds, and wipe everything down, how much would that run per week? I know it can vary but I just need a general idea. THanks!

It depends on where you live. I would call an established agency and ask about maid service.

We have our 2,500 ft2 house cleaned every 2 weeks. The house get's to be a huge mess in that time since there are 2 babies living here along with 4 adults.

Two cleaning people are here for about 5 hours and they clean and mop all the tile and wood floors, clean all the bathrooms, vacuum all the carpets in the house, tidy up everything, dust the entire house including baseboards, clean the windows and mirrors, clean all the fingerprints off of the SS appliances, clean the sinks and tubs, and take out all the trash . They provide cleaning supplies but they use our vacuum cleaner.

It costs us $250 per visit. I'm in Orange County, California so I figure it may be a bit more expensive than elsewhere. The cleaners are from a small family company. They are insured, licensed, and have good references. We've had Merry maids and others give us some quotes and their pricing is comparable once they saw how messy things get.

If I wanted to get something done as you describe, most cleaning companies won't touch it or it would be unusually expensive. Your tasks are everyday things that don't take much time (especially if you do them everyday). It isn't worth their time to show up for an hour and then leave. As suggested elsewhere, you may look into a small local maid service or maybe a neighborhood person.

Good Luck!

It depends on where you live and who you get. I am in Florida and used to work for a housekeeping business. We did not do daily service, just weekly and up. Houses were charges by the size, with the lowest price being 79.95 for a 3/2 home done weekly. If we did jobs that were off the schedule, like you are looking for, it would simply be $89.95 per hour. I myself am looking to aquire work like you have listed. I would personally charge a start up fee to get everything under control and then a flat weekly fee of about $100, give or take depending on how many rooms you have ect. You will have an easier time with someone working for themselves rather than a company because they have rules and guidlines whereas an individual has more flexibility. Good luck!

If you do it yourself, most people who pay good money require that you be fully bonded. To be fully bonded means you carry insurance in case something winds up missing (not saying you are going to take it) or if you accidentally break something while you are cleaning.

With that said, I live in Kansas. My friend cleans houses for a living. She charges $30 an hour with a two hour minimum. So, if she gets all of her cleaning duties completed in an hour, she is still getting paid for two hours. Cleaning supplies aren't expensive. Get a business membership at your local Sam's Club or Costco so that you may buy in bulk.

Let's just say, for fun, that you have ten great clients that you clean for twice weekly and you only do the minimum.... that's $1200 a week. I would charge a person $120 per week for four hours of work.

You can even start cheaper than that. But I wouldn't. You need to make a business plan and figure out the cost of a vehicle to use for your business, your insurance to be fully bonded, and the start-up costs of your company (like advertising, business cards, maybe a nice work shirt w/ your company's name on it). You also should join your local Chamber of Commerce. Those are usually old rich guys and they network for you. My mom's a chamber member (restaurant owner) and it has helped so much. It also helps that I'm married to the VP's son :-) Anyhow, you are going to need to get your business licenses, tax ID number, all of that. I would estimate your initial start-up being around $2000 or so. You will also need a phone number for your business. You may want to add a line onto your cell phone account soley for business purposes.

Anyway. I hope that this helps out. Good luck.

That will vary with where you live. I've gotten this done for anywhere from $30-35 per day, $5-$10 per hour.

Isn't great to be able to have this kind of help?

Depends on the part of the country. In Texas, it's a lot less because it's mostly undocumented workers doing it.
