Most are to docile & gutless to act in this manner! Few would actually admit to thinking about it! Some do get pushed to the breaking point & go on the rampage. Look how The American society threats is poor, elderly, fat & ugly, dumb & lazy, the homeless, the disabled etc etc.

I think most disadvantaged people strive to better themselves in spite of the odds. then others have a chemical imbalance and cannot reason that they are responsible solely for their survival

If people do not want to be a part of this world, they should just do it to themselves. How selfish is it that they feel they need to take others down with them. That their life is so incredibly worthless to them that they feel they need to have their name blasted all over the news in some cowardly attempt to be noticed one last time. Pathetic. They won't even live to face what they have done.
*Edit* What I meant was that if someone thinks they have it SO bad that they can no longer go on living and think there are no options for them, they should keep it to themselves instead of trying to convey a message by taking others down with them. *Edit*
America is NOWHERE near perfect, nor will it ever be in the state that it is in. The rich get richer and the poor get crapped on. You have to make the best of your situation and try to overcome your hardship. Maybe those people would get somewhere if they actually saved some money, paid their bills, stopped spending money on crap that they don't need, and took a walk every once in awhile to keep from being overly obese. You have to have respect for yourselve and try to live life the way you want it to be lived, instead of thinking everything negatively... they need to stop thinking that because THEY have it so bad, the rest of the world should give everything to them. That's sheer laziness!! EVERYONE has a choice in their fate. It's what you do with what comes at you that makes people wealthy (not necessarily rich, but happy with what they have). There are always options, but stupid things like Pride or stubborness often gets in the way.
Well, I wonder how brave YOU would be if you were defenseless in a classroom against someone you know who is pointing a loaded weapon at you and firing upon your classmates. I'm SURE you would stand up and say, "Hey, you better stop that." Or try and tackle them...
Your survival mode would kick in and you would try to get as far away from the gun as possible.

Why are you attacking the American society?
The problem lies in the glorifying of this kind of action by the media.
Pain is an everyday thing with me. Poverty is a state of mind. Cho had more than he would admit. It cost big $ to buy those guns, as well as the video equipment.
Why should any society take care of the lazy?
It does not take guts to kill, all it takes is being a coward.

My husband and I are currently trying to live and run a business with over $1,000,000 in debt. Stressed? I'll show you stressed.
Cho was far from "impoverished", it sounds like he was a lazy, not so smart, jealous person who coveted others good fortune instead of going out and making his own.
So if I don't kill a bunch of people I am docile and gutless? Funny, deciding to do the right thing and work harder is not only ethical and difficult, it sure as heck does not make me gutless.

Usually they just kill themselves without taking out anyone else. The only other real examples of this type of insanity were the two from Columbine. What all three had in common is their narcissistic behaviour as if the world should have revolved around only them.
Those who usually just take themselves out of the picture do send up warning signals, it is just that people do not recognize them until too late.
