Not a good idea. Bettas need a higher water temperature to thrive than goldfish do and you can't keep the temperature both cool enough for the goldfish and warm enough for the betta.

Bettas, aka: Siamese fighting fish, are no threat to any other fish, but males will attempt to kill each other if kept in the same tank. My experience is that other varieties that might engage in fin-nipping can't resist the beautiful flowing fins of the Betta and, hence the Betta is the one in danger (perhaps). The fish you mentioned having, however should not cause a problem. Tiger barbs, Cichlids, etc. would be another story. By the way...male and (even multiple) female bettas get along fine, and are easily induced into a breeding cycle by maintaining a temp of 80 deg. F. You just can't comingle 2 or more males or the fight is on. That is how the name "fighting fish " came to be applied. In Siam these creature were deliberately put together and bets placed on which would survive.....sort of like cockfighting in other cultures.

You can put the Betta in the fishtank with the other fish. Some Betta are more violent than others though. If it starts attacking the other fish than just take it out. You will never know until you try... and the temperature thing with bettas in warmer water is pretty much a bunch of bull crap if you ask me, because mine is doing just fine next to the window durring the winter and all without any heaters or **** for the last 3 yrs and i live in a cold state (Maine)... they're one of the easiest fish to keep alive.

no. do not mix goldfish and bettas.
they have different temperature requirements, the betta needing warm, the goldfish needing cool.
the goldfish are very messy, and this mess can effect the water conditions, which will have adverse effects on all fish, the betta will succumb first though.
the goldfish, once large enough, will have no problem in swallowing a betta.
the goldfish will nip the betta's fins, the betta may attempt to fight back but the goldfish will win and you'll lose the betta.

Absolutly you can add a Betta. You can actually add 1 female (females don't have the flowing tail) and 1 male. You CAN NOT add 2 males or 2 females. They are a good community fish.

I have kept betta in a tropical tank (as long as they are the only one), but have never had any luck keeping them with goldfish. Your comet is likely to eat the fins off the betta. Your fantails are aggressive enough - and large enough - to protect themselves from the comet.
They also do better in warmer water, it would become fairly sluggish in the cold water conditions goldfish prefer.

No Betta will kill your fish. Look, the reason Betta are to be left alone is exactlly for this kind of situations.you managed to obey the rule for some time,so just try to keep that in mind and `revenge` in some more, well human way(I know this isn`t the right word for what I`m trying to say). now it doesen`t matter how much you love your fish, or care about them, because the fact is-it`s over.it may seem cruel but I`m honest. so my advice is-find some other fish friends of yours, doesen`t matter what`s he like.start to go out,you don`t have to have a relationship or something like that.just start to have your own life, life without them.you`ll see,if you try you may have the best time of your life in your fish tank

Yes ,but he will grow larger than in a small tank , keep an eye him to make sure he is coming to the top for Betta shrimp bites .Feed him one at a time and he will start coming up everyday about the same time, at least ours does.

We had a male and female betta in a 55gallon tank with our goldfish and they got along just fine! Bettas are so pretty in larger tanks.. they have almost an eel like motion to their swimming.
