What happened?

I'm about to, I'm afraid.
My ex wife cannot handle our daughter anymore (after about eight months of custody), and she wants to petition the court to give me sole custody.
*My daughter (elementary school aged) now skips school (she's left home alone)
*She is given to fits of rage
*She's disruptive in school (even though she was one of the best math students in the state two years ago)
*She's vandalized my ex wife's new apartment
I know that she needs serious therapy, and parameters, and that this process may not even work out (she hates my guts, she threatens to run away to my ex wife's former boyfriend, etc.).
I'm so full of trepidation, that I almost don't want to deal with this; but it's not about me or my ex wife, it's about my daughter, and her future.
Just gotta steel my jaw and go for it.

just once.It was bait that has rolled under my car seat and it was a few months old.
