Hi There, I had a friend who's cat used to do the same. I am an avid cat lover I adore them the eldest I have is 20. Firstly, yes its to do with marking its territory but better still it is Kidney Infection. It is common in older cats. Usually the only signs of it is they tend to urinate up against walls or random places, and they drink more. Also dried food tends to be the culprit too. I never had cats that urinated in the house but I've had one cat suffer from depression bless her because she was in a cat fight. So stress can trigger it too. Cats are sensitive creatures really, they sense so much more than we will ever know I suspect. Normally the condition is called Cystitis in us humans. It can be caught so I've heard and passed on to the other cats. They need to see a vet, because if it's an infection it needs to be sorted. If finance is a problem, you can call Cats Protection or RSPCA to see whether they can help with the bill, some Vets have a system where you can pay in small amounts so please shop around before you make a final decision on a Vets. Also I've been stung before, dont go to the most local vets just because its convienient, I took my cat to have its teeth checked and they quoted me £300, where only 15 miles down the road another vet quoted me £50.
