he doesnt have a job , so he comes and goes a she pleases. I dont want to get the police involved, it will make it worse on me in the end!!

Tell him nicely that the relationship isn't working out the way you had hoped, that you need some space and you need him to set a date for him to move out. Stick to that date, and schedule a locksmith to come by that day to change the locks. If he refuses to leave then call the police without his knowledge and have him removed immediately.

The other replies are very good, but here is something, although not entirely related to what you asked; instead of changing the locks, just have the locksmith change the tumblers; this is less expensive!! the old key will still fit in the lock, but will not be able to be turned to enter...just a thought!! and it may not help you, but I wanted to pass it along..good luck! OH & as someone else said, it'd be worth taking a day of vacation or day off to get this done!!!

Burn a day of vacation and make arrangements to have the lock changed. Then, pack his stuff and set it outside the front door.
But the best thing you can do is tell him the relationship is over and give him written notice that he needs to vacate your home within 30 days. If he doesn't, then have the police escort him out.

Take him to a motel for a Romantic get away, while your gone have someone change the locks and pack his stuff, get up early, leave before he is awake and go home, lock yourself in. He will have to get a ride back to your place, so that gives you a little time, leave his things outside, when he sees that he should get the picture. Good luck

Make an appointment with a locksmith for a day when he is not around. Take leave for that time period or day. Dump all his belongings outside. Lock all bedroom doors and keep the keys with you. Give him no chance of coming back in again.

If you are fighting or he is abusive to you, you can file an order of protection and no contact. Since you are the one paying the rent and he's not, it's simple if he's not on the lease and you need to change the locks. Coordinate with your landlord if you go ahead with this since he can get a no-trespass order against your guy as well.

You need to quit playing around and get the police involved. That or take a day off. Something has to be done and the sooner the better.

You simply ask him to leave nicely . If he doesn't leave and the rent receipts are in your name you have no choice but to get the police involved. Just have the police come and talk to him. If that doesn't work you have them move his stuff to the curb. You shouldn't be living together anyways your not married to one another.

is the place in your name? if so, tell him he's out. put his stuff in the hall or on the street and have a friend or relative come over and change the locks for you. could you take one day off work to take care of things? it would be to your advantage. good luck.

Legally, you CANNOT change the locks on him. He lives there legally no matter what you think.
The only way to do this is via the court system using a notice to vacate, not an eviction. It will take time and money. Its different than if it was a room mate.
