An IP address is provided to you by your Internet Service Provider. Most use what is called a dynamic address-that is one that they loan you for a time then it is changed or renewed.
A static or fixed IP address is one that does not change. Most ISP will charge extra for this type of address. Unless you have requested it I doubt if they gave you a static IP address.

In either case ..Unless Comcast's Tech support instructs you to change your IP address DO NOT CHANGE IT ON YOUR OWN or you will lose Internet access.

In the network setting of your computer you probably have the properties set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" this is how it must be set unless you have a static IP assigned by Comcast.

You can check on the "lease" for the IP you were assigned by
going to Start > Control Panel>Network Settings (Classic View) then right click on the Local Area Connection Icon and left click on status then click on the support tab and click on the details button.. Your IP and lease information will be displayed.

Cable users are assigned to nodes that use a preassigned pool of IP addresses. Even if you change your IP the system logs who uses what IP address and which one they are currently assigned.
To change to a differnet IP you simply go to START> RUN> CMD> IPCONFIG /RELEASE. Then type in IPCONFIG /RENEW. This will retrieve you a different IP if one is available.

What could be boring about something you never normally see. four sets of numbers, separated with full stops? Like: 192.168.1.100

Are you sure it's your IP Address you're bored of. Or are you just being silly?

Just ask your ISP to give you an additional one or change it, but they might charge you for it. My ISP charges extra if I want an additional IP address.

There are proxies which you can use too. Surfing & downloading stuff by proxy is slower though.
Just Google search 'IP proxy'

unless you pay extra for a static ip address, each time you sign on you'll get a new one (usually).
