I'm taking a year off before I go to graduate school for an MPH, in the meantime I'd like to experience in the field. What types of public health jobs are available for someone with only a BA (psych major, business minor)?

Possibly as a counselor in a psychiatric treatment facility or local hospital.

You can try to find work at a non-profit, university or at a hospital. I work at a health department, and we do take BA applicants, but in very specific spots like health ed (since you have a behavioral sci. background), or as research analysts.
You wouldn't be able to go into counseling, though, as you need to be licensed or credentialed first.
