Don't the shops that sell them face to face sell them on the internet? Perhaps (if you're in the UK) places like John Lewis and Hobby Craft?

I know you asked about online but I suggest going (in person) to Walmart because they have many, many patterns for dresses and other things at inexpensive prices. I get mine there all the time. I even got my sewing machine there.
Disclaimer: I recently learned that some Walmarts got rid of their sewing section so, call ahead and verify sewing section if your Walmart is not up the street from where you live or work or go to school. Good Luck!

This link has some suited varieties some are no longer appropriate for a newbie however, so do examine the skill ranges. bear in mind that shop offered varieties do have training on them and those assume you have slightly wisdom. As a newbie, that's good to to apply a decrease priced ordinary polycotton for a extensive-unfold attempt, whether you could in no way positioned on the development/shade. The stretchier and silkier a fabric the extra sturdy it will be to paintings with formerly each thing. solid success.

go to simplicity.com, then mccalls.com, then butterick.com then go to your nearest joanns store and sign up for the sale paper, and wait till they have a sale where one of the brands is 2 bucks each, then buy what you want, you will have your lists of patterns ready from looking at the pattern companies, the walmarts that are still selling fabric also have newlook at about 3.50 each on a rack and some of the pattern companies also have a bargian list of patterns in them somewhere.
