I assume that you can't power up the computer, but if you can download the free program "CPUz" which is very small and doesn't need to be installed, just run - it will tell you exactly.

If you can't turn it on, the REALLY easy way to tell is to look at the case that the computer is in.

Pentium 1 CPUs were ALWAYS in XT cases which had a "hard" on/off switch which has an on position and an off position. These were normally a hard to press push button switch which was "in" when the computer was on and "out" when the computer was off - some times they were a "rocker" switch with "on" and "off" markings.

Pentium 3 CPUs were all in ATX cases which have the newer "soft" power switch which makes a light click when pressed but doesn't have an "on" or "off" position.

If you are inside the case, you would also be able to tell by the RAM sticks - PI computers used the SIMM RAM sticks that insert from the side and tilt up to lock into metal holders. P3 computers use the DIMM RAM that presses straight down into plastic locks at the ends.
