What is it that I can see in the midlands, night sky, not a planet, I checked!?

We need more information, like what it looked like, where it was in the sky, if it appeared to be moving....

Could be the International Space Station.

If it's very bright and towards the west, it could be Saturn or Venus.

A bit more detail might help.
