I recently saw the points table for the player of the tournament contenders.

During that time macgrath had 15 wickets but he was the number 1 with 12 points.

malinga had 15 but he was not even in the table.Hayden was there and he deserves but he had only 6 points.

Ashraful having only a one fifti under his belt was there even ahead of sanath jayasuriya. How come that happen.Jayasuriya has 2 centuries and few wickets under his belt.

How come macgrath having 12 points and ahead of others??????Is it bcoz he is gonna retire or coz of the aussiee domination??

Im not happy with some of the selections for the man of the match awards. In Eng vs SL match Mahela scored over fifti, tharanga scored over 60.Dilhara took crucial 3 wickets and took the winning wicket too in the last over. But with a big B Bopara was the man of the match. How come???And if its going in that way they could have easily given it to malinga in the south africa match for taking 4 wickets in 4 balls

I am not aware of which Point table you are referring to. As far as player rankings are concerned, it is not merely based on the number of wickets taken or the number of runs scored, but based on various other factors such as economy rate, strike rate, number of matches played etc.

As far as giving Man of the Match to Ravi Bopara is concerned, I am also surprised at the choice. May be because he was not a recognised batsman and the rate at which he scored the runs and the fact that his scoring 52 runs at the rate of a run per ball had brought the match to live and brought the match to exciting finish. I do not find any other reason for the same.
