Why do men these days seem to be so afraid of women?

I mean... generally they're physically weaker... often less rational.... and frequently wear clothing that inhibits free movement anyway... Other than that, there aren't many differences significant to the situation...
So what is to fear?

I mean... do the rather stupider males actually take the media to heart? By "the media", I refer to the tendency of films and television to always let the women win, no matter where the situation lies on the scale of reasonable to downright ludicrous.

I mean... they're just humans, irrespective of gender...

I think it's that men aren't really sure how to talk to women anymore. Since the feminist movement, we as men have to be careful that we don't offend women who are independent and like to do things for themselves. I actually got beratted once for opening the door for a woman. Her response was" I can do that myself thanks" . Well. I was just trying to be a gentleman. It can get very confusing out there these days, which is why I am happy to have found the love of my life and don't have to do the dating thing anymore. I think men are confused about when to call, if they should call or wait, how many days to wait before you call, etc.etc. It's actually quite sad.

While your conclusions about why men shouldn't fear women are simple-minded, you raise a fair question.
You say women are generally physically weaker. That may be so, but in a civilized society, being physically stronger doesn't give you much of an advantage. Think about it. If i'm physically stronger than the next man, what does that enable me to do? Maybe beat him up or kill him, which then enables me to spend a good number of years thereafter in jail. Not a viable option.
You say women are less rational. And that's why we SHOULDN'T fear them? If two men, one rational, the other irrational, were both holding loaded pistols, who would YOU fear more? Yeah, I thought so. The old adage goes "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." You betcha.
But, yes, as you said, they are "just humans" after all. So why the fear?
The simple answer is: we generally fear what we do not understand. And oh boy, let me tell you; I think mankind will one day conquer the realm of understanding in EVERY regard except two.

I don't think we will EVER really get what's going on with them. And that in itself is a pretty frightening thing. How do you deal with something you instinctively want but can't figure out? Even the most rational and intelligent of us, the ones who can figure out accounting, quantum physics and mechanics, literature and how to make our bodies look like stone golems CANNOT figure out women. Women don't "add up." And yet, we can't help but want them.
Which leads to the second reason: We often (mistakenly, I believe) allow women to hold our egos, our self-esteem, our self-worth in the palm of their hands. We determine our worth as men, lovers and even human beings by how women judge us. We often unconsciously, but intentionally, put ourselves lower to them, subject ourselves to them, in the hopes that they will be the saviors of our souls.
That's a massive gamble. A big risk. Scary.
So, in conclusion, I'd say we fear them because we don't understand them and because we mistakenly "depend" on them for our own happiness.

I don't know where you live...but when I watch TV it's women and children who are the victims. I would say 90% of the victims are women and children...say on CSI. By your question I can see that you are sexist..."less rational". And I see know fear of women just sexism. Weaker? Talk to my trainer Ms. Lyons. And by the way...I'm a guy. Yeah you're right about saying that women are physically weaker, less rational, inhibtion of free movement etc. but there is something of how you conclude to all this. Men aren't afraid of women because of the said characteristics. Rather men RESPECT women because of this very characteristics.

in todays society, women have less need for men, and as a result of that, we are seeing men wearing makeup, cooking and taking pride in being more sensitive. a new generation of metrosexuals has developed. men have alot to live up to these days, i can see why they are scared ;)
