You're right. All paper is made from various tree fibers. And they use a specific tree for the paper money.

Assuming you're talking about United States Currency, according to The United States Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing website:

"Currency paper is composed of 25% linen and 75% cotton. Red and blue synthetic fibers of various lengths are distributed evenly throughout the paper. Prior to World War I the fibers were made of silk."

Neither linen (from flax plants) or cotton are derived from trees. Of course they're probably not telling the whole truth because of counterfeiting issues...

United States federal currency is printed on high-quality paper made of cotton and linen, not magical money-fiber trees. All you need to do is look up the federal reserve online and all the answers will be at your fingertips. You can even get a tour of the US Mint if you are ever in DC and they will show you how they print the money, what it is printed on, and all the different denominations that get printed (some you may never see, like the $10,000 bill).

Actually, paper money is not paper but a blend of 25% cotton and 75% linen making it more like cloth. This blend cannot be used by anyone outside the money making guys in the government which is why it is so hard to make counterfeit money. You were right in a way but it is not really a tree. I saw your fist Q but I didn't get to it before it disappeared. I will give you a star for trying to inform us of something we may not have known!

What is money made of? Coins are usually made of copper and another element, such as zinc or nickel. Currency paper is composed of 25 percent linen and 75 percent cotton. Red and blue synthetic fibers of various lengths are distributed evenly throughout the paper. Before World War I these fibers were made of silk.

I don't know the anser, but there probaly is a mint.gov (I made that up) web site that would tell your the answer or Wikipedia.

You have to admit that it is kid of funny. I was laughing as I read your question. I believe you about the fiber, money isn't made from paper...unless its counterfeit! Check it on Wikipedia.

There is no wood or paper used in our printed money. It’s a custom blend of 25% cotton and 75% linen. It’s closer to cloth than paper. This blend, which can not legally be used by anyone outside the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, is much more durable than ordinary paper.

1. outlet adapters: honestly, it'll probably be cheaper to get one there, but you can go to radio shack & get international adapters. they'll help ya out! 2. YES......they are expensive. if you look it up on your website, it will tell you exactly how much. honestly, it is sooo cheap to buy a phone & an international sim card when you get there, & top up/pay as you go. i promise, it's much easier. 3. I use a local bank, & I studied abroad last year & was in london/spain last week, & it works perfectly everywhere I go. check with your bank about how much they charge for international charges. mine didn't charge any extra, but some charge a couple of dollars, especially for ATM withdrawals (there are atms everywhere that will just charge you for using their banks.) there are some places that you can exchange cash at, but try & go to one that doesn't charge you commission. i'm so excited for you to go abroad!!! it's the bessstttt experience ever!
