Only answer if you have used or are using some form of hormonal birth control.

What kind of hormonal birth control do you use? (patch, pill, shot, etc.)

How long have you been using it for?

Do you use a secondary form of birth control? (condom, spermicide...)

Have you ever gotten pregnant while on your birth control regimen?

I'm sterile. I do not use any form of birth control. I used to take the pill. I got pregnant twice while on it and both had to be terminated (they were ectopic). I underwent voluntary sterilization after the termination of the second ectopic. I am in a monogamous relationship and my boyfriend and I have both been tested for all STDs. We are both clean and we do not use anything else.

Just a note...I take a medication that I will have to take everyday for the rest of my life. Unfortunately, it makes birth control pills...or any form of hormonal birth control ineffective. Sterilization was my only option since I wanted something that would be 100% effective. I had the operation in 1995, when I was 25 years old.

I chose to remain childless for many reasons. I do not regret my decision.

I was on the pill for 3 yrs then off for 2 and back on again for 4. When I went off I used "Contraceptive Gel" for 3 yrs and never got pregnant. He is fixed now so I don't need to worry about any of this stuff anymore....smile. I do know of people who have gotten pregnany while on birth control. After all it is not 100% effective. You can also be pregnant and still get a period...I have seen that happen also.

Uses for the prevention of pregnancy.

Directions
Ortho Options Conceptrol Contraceptive Gel should be applied not more than an hour before intercourse. An additional application is necessary if repeated intercourse takes place or if intercourse occurs more than six hours after insertion.

I never used a second form while on the pill.
