The whole book is a constant stream of dishonestly. Tom doesn't tell his wife that he is having an affair. Myrtle doesn't tell her husband that she is having an affair with Tom. Tom tells Myrtle his wife is Catholic and therefore won't get a divorce, but she isn't. Jordan moves a ball in a golf tournament; she leaves the top of a car down in the rain and then lies about it. It has been suggested that Nick is gay, which is why his relationships with women don't work, so he is dishonest with himself and with Jordan. Daisy has an affair with Gatsby but doesn't tell Tom.

It's on and on and on. No one is this book is truly honest, despite what Nick says.

The themes of dishonesty should be fairly obvious to you. Gatsby's background is a made up lie. His fortune is gained illegally. Tom is cheating on his wife. And Daisy allows Gatsby to take the blame for her killing Tom's mistress accidently while driving his car. That's a lot of dishonesty. If you read the book, you should know those things. Pax - C

That book was such variety of themes! You can get a book similiar to Cliffnotes that will list all of this information at any bookstore. You should not forego reading the book - it is a good one!
