I just need an account to get my wages paid into and to pay my direct debits from as my insurance, tv licience, and council tax want payment in this way. I dont expect any credit faclities but so far everyone I have asked has said no. I have tried to be honest about my bankruptcy but have met one brick wall after another. Official Reciever is happy for me to have account for wages but no banks seem interested, probably because I am not credit-worthy now and give them no opportunity to make anything from me!! They said that going bankrupt would give me a fresh start but so far I cant even get going!! Help please, especially if you have been in this position yourself.

There is a way you could get a bank account if the High Street is being awkward. Do you have a partner or mother close friend etc. Get them to open a Basic Bank Account in their name and give it to you.
Your employer will pay wages into the account and you can pay your bills through it. The name on the account is irrelevant as long as the a/c number and sort code are correct. You would control the a/c via the cash card. Simple.

Most of the major banks offer a basic bank account that allows wages to be paid into and (some) allow direct debits and standing orders too. They usually have an Electron card or a simple cash card but no cheque book or overdraft. If the account is held in credit for a while then there is a good chance that they will offer to upgrade the account to a 'proper' current account will full facilities. As for the Capital One credit card - pretty much anyone can get one as long as they are on the Electroral Register.

I think you went into bankrupcy without doing your homework first chick
Most people know that if you go bankrupt you can not get a bank account for 12 months at least.
I think the best thing you can do is log in to the moneysavingexpert.com website, go onto the chat forum where people (in your situation) will be able to give you lots of advice, honestly they are a big help more than yahoo I recently went on there as I am going through a debt management plan at the moment i did not think it through and nearly went with a dreadfull company who would have screwed me over but I got lots of help from this site and now with an excellent company good luck xx
