The Us joined the War in 1941. The beginning of WWII began in 1931( Japan Invading Manchuria.) Most people start WWII in 1939 with the Germans Invading Poland. Everyone forgets China was fighting the Japanese before the Europeans were to enter the fray. China was were the Flying Tigers were fighting at. The US was isolated from it and a Good chunk of the people wanted to stay that way. Then Dec, 7 1941 The attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii ( Soon to be The 50th State not the 30th) brought America into the Pacific Theater and Hitler brought America into the European Theater

US citizens didn't want to join the 'European War'. Japan attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. A couple of days later Germany declared war on the USA bringing the USA into the European War. A war which Britain wanted the USA to become involved in.

No nation goes to war "to prove something."
While America was not quite the global figure in the world as it is today (before, during, and after the First World War), it overcame its isolation when events in Europe and Asia threatened the lives of American citizens, trade, or security.

America felt they had no choice but retaliate when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on the morning of December 7th, 1941.
The rest of the world had been at war since 1939.

America didn't join WWII just after the great depression.
The WWII began in 1939 and the USA took a further 2 years
to be persuaded to join in the fight against the Nazis.

America very much tried to stay out of it, but what ultimately brought us into the war was our alliance with Great Britain and also that little event we know today as Pearl Harbor. Without it and our friendship with Britain we might never have engaged in the war, at all.

Some Japanese aircraft bombed the US Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

President Roosevelt didn't know where Japan was, so he called in all the cleverest brains in the US-But nobody else knew where it was either.

So the President asked Winnie (whose dear old mum was a Yank).

Winnie took out a map of the world and pointed to a place called Berlin.

We got invaded by the Japanese in 1941.
We financed the British in 1940 on their war effort because they were fighting Germany alone in Europe.
Unless we wanted Germany to have it all, we had to get involved.
It was necessity, not ego.
