1.Easiest way is to download and install CIS Webserver on your XP machine.
a.Use the link below to download.
http://www.cupidsystems.com/products/webserver/cis-webserver-setup.exe
b.Just install it and your PC is ready to be HTTP or FTP server.
2.Other way is to install FTP apache.
3.Another way to solve your problem is to configure IIS is by using Windows XP cd.
For least home work, you should use option 1. Thereafter you may skip to other steps.

Start the FTP services in the Service Part of Administrative Tools; If that is not available; You can use WS FTP LE to Get or Send Files to Another Computer on a Network ( need at least an IP address).

Let me explain.
FTP is a File Transfer Protocol used to transfer files from one computer to any other computer or sever as Windows contains a built -in client in Internet Explorer Browser, you can connect to the ftp site by typing the ftp site address in the Address Bar and browse the site to upload files.
for example: 1) Open Internet Explorer Browser.
2) In the Address Bar type:
ftp://ftp-www.earthlink.net
and hit enter key. This will open the ftp site and it asks for authentication to connect the ftp server.

Get or download the Cerberus FTP Server Software it is free as long as it will be a personal use. I did use this for Serveral years already and it is working perfectly without any kind of spyware, adware etc. After you download it installing is so easy.
