i'm really afraid that my laptop will overheat, so a friend of mine recommended me a cooling fan for laptops. u think i should get 1 for my laptop? help needed urgently......

If your laptop uses high wattage processors that run HOT (mobile P4/Celeron Northwood), go ahead w/ the laptop cooler.

Low wattage Intel Dothans and Yonahs run cool and do not have any use for those laptop coolers.

If your laptop has a tendency to overheat, then yes this is worth the money for the fan. You may want to have your laptop cleaned out as well, you know, get all the dust out, which will help prevent overheating.

All the laptops will have a fan and cooling outlet you can first clean it and then see if its getting overheated like all the labels below the laptop got burnt then you can invest in a new cooling fan or heat sink.....
