I think it's just the choices you have to make along the way...sometimes, the choices aren't ones you want to have to make--but because of circumstances, you choose the lesser of two evils.
You didn't make your life this way...it sounds like you did the best you could with what you had at the time, and sacrificed for the sake of your children instead of thinking of yourself. That makes you a wonderful person and a wonderful mother!

I often do, especially now that I have a 14 month old daughter. My life as a teenager and all of my 20's were fast and I was living in the fast lane as they say. I love music, my life revolved around pubs, hotels and anywhere we (our band) can play.
If it wasn't for my wife, I don't know how I would survive or make it thru. Yes I have said to myself many times, What the hell did I do, to deserve my wife? and now she has givin' me the best gift of all time, a child that I love so dearly.

I'm 49 years old and my life is still a mess. Seems no matter how much good I try to do it just gets worse. I don't lie, cheat or steal. I help the homeless, disabled and hungry and it seems when I'm in need I'm left twisting. Maybe I did something in another life and have to pay in this one.

I can't speak for anyone else but me, I know I took the wrong road, but I can't change anything from the past, I just got to move forward and try to make my llife now a happy one. and going back and thinking about what could of been is not going to help anything, I have to look at what I can do now and to make sure I keep on the same track.

Ive had my own fair share of heartaches & frustrations(who doesnt?).At certain point in my life there were turn of events that i wasnt ready to face...i wasnt prepared to accept.
My life had a 360 deg. turn..i lost everything that ive worked for, lost my chances of having a better future! everything including myself...i was in the verge of self destruction...
i blamed it on alot of things, fate! mystupid-undisciplinedself! i even blame my zodiac sign for this..luck everything. but now that ive kinda matured i realized that life is what we make it.
I kinda fused this adage that God gave us the freedom to choose what we want to do + God designed our life that everything that happens in our life is according to his plan.
I have this analogy that everything we do there's always 2 doors that we can choose to open: we have the FREEDOM to choose what door to enter & we maybe at point black wether the knob we're holding is the knob for a CONSEQUENCE or a knob for a REWARD that GOD prepared for us but In the end still LIFE STILL, IS HOW & WHAT WE MAKE IT!
*geeze sorry for such a long answer ..kinda overwhelmed with ur question!

Sending a smile your way.. : )
I don't wonder what I did, I just wonder why I did it. Life could have been so different but here I am, 45 and really haven't got any place in this life.. Good luck to you and I hope things get better.

I have the wisdom at this point in life not to question it too much, took me several years to not fear success and that's a toughy to get over no matter how crazy it sounds.
