Yes it is true. Tigers have immensely strong muscular forelegs that are capable of killing prey up to its own weight (eg. the heavy sambar deer) with a single swipe. They are heavy creatures in themselves and excellent jumpers (that's what tiggers do best!) having been reported to carry livestock weighing 50kg while jumping a 2m tall fence!

Using their immensely strong forelegs for a jumping attack which allows them to bite their prey's neck and using the strength of their forelegs to avoid being dislodged tigers have been known to bring down prey SIX times their weight!
