I was trying to pre-empt racist anti-Jewish responses. I wanted to put in "no anti-semitic rants" but I thought it would be confusing because "anti-semitic" is not synonymous with "anti-Jew" (Arabs are semites as well as some Jews). I am not a liberal--I would be libertarian on some issues, conservative on others and middle-of-the-road on others. Please try not to put people in little boxes! Thanks.

Would I be necessarily anti-Chinese (and/or anti-Confucian) if I argued that China has an excessive political influence in Tibet? Would I be necessarily anti-British (and/or anti-Protestant) if I argued that Britain has an excessive political influence in Northern Ireland? Would I be anti-Iran (or ant-Shia) if I argued that Iran has an excessive political influence in Iraq? In other words, the (predictable) accusation of anti-semitism is totally illogical.

the first question should be: Why does it need to be countered? or Why is it "excessive" in your mind? or what do you propose to "counter" it with?
They are a democratic country in the middle of a volitile region run by dictators who swear hatred against israel solely because they are Jewish. Dont believe me, sit and listen to muslims complain and see if they blame jews for almost everything.
The jews are envied because they are a close knit group, they have a great social safety net for each other that christians and muslims and others would envy. they have been crapped on for centuries and they always manage to pull themselves out of the crap. they are vilified by democrat blacks in america because they are Minority that "made it "much like many asians. They also do alot of social outreach in their communities for non jews.
I call for MORE Israeli influence.

Fair enough question. Also ask the same question of the oil cartels, the NRA, the people who support abortion, the people who are against abortion, Christian meltdown, pro drugs, against drugs, uniform tax code, etc. I can go on for an hour listing the political groups that are seriously active in the USA. Why the group that represents Israel? They are the only true democracy in the middle east and who supports the USA in spite of USA's stupidity. Israel borrows millions but pays it back. You didn't know that? Israel also designs software for the USA, plus works with USA doctors on new procedures and drugs. It is a very lucrative and positive relationship. The political influence of Israel in Washington should not be countered!

Israel has been one of our best allies why should they not have influence. Should Britain have no influence on what we do as well.

It can't. Pro Israel is too ingrained in Americans' psyches, Israel is extremely good with it's PR, and Christian conservatives side with Israel as a matter of faith.
