Space is curved by gravity. So, you can only pretend you KNOW the earth is round if you can see in 4 dimensions.
If you see in 3 dimensions like normal people...you must admit the earth is flat. It is simply curved ON ITSELF.

Hopefully this will turn on a light in your mind and allow you to represent spacial and time structures more accurately.
If you can grasp a fraction of the size of our solar system alone, you'll be freaked out, unless you "feel" the reality of space curvature.

You should all sing together : "sad to think that it all went over my head..." by Powderfinger. Great song.

OK, IF YOU'RE STILL FOLLOWING THIS, do you at least admit gravity deforms space and time?

Sorry campellp..you're talking crap. If the earth was infinitely flat, as in, it stretched throughout space to infinity, do you assume it would still have a gravitational pull?
Yes. The planets are curbed on them selves by gravity. Which makes them flat, you dumbass...

Ok, sorry about the dumbass thing. I like getting carried away on relatively trivial matters. No harm, no fowl.

THE CAT. WTF is the big deal if he said gravity curves s. and not mass.
Go fckn kill yourself!

ok CAMPBELP ! LISTEN !
I never said the earth was not round!
I'm saying we must see it is flat but curved "ON ITSELF" (for christs sake)...
Do you even know what curved on itself means?
Even if the air around earth is not curved, that doesn't mean our earth is not curved. I am simply stating here that MASS DEFINES REALITY, AND WHAT IS UP AND DOWN. IN THAT SENSE, the earth is flat and curved on itself. Do you get it?
Thats why I asked if people had been to earth, cause this is reality at this scale.
An ants nest is round(bell shaped) even by the ants standard. Cause its mere existence does not bend reality in its vicinity.
DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

That's an interesting thought. Conventional geometry informs us that there are (ideal) points, lines, flat surfaces and volumes, zero, one, two and three dimensions that are adopted to model our real solar system. Also, time is an important dimension because the whole exists from moment to moment never to return to a former state in every detail. Geometry informs us very little about gravity and the curvature of space. It is remarkable that mass particles can curve space and attract each other even to the point (singularity) within a black hole where time and geometry itself are distorted such that most of the laws of physics as we know them cease to exist. No gravitational attraction is lost relative to external bodies. The moon orbits the earth around a mutual center of gravity for the two bodies that is always below the crust of the earth on the line between centers (because space is curved by mass). When additional universal dimensions are contemplated there seems to be no compelling reason to renumber the existing known dimensions. The earth is a globe or sphere and your insights into the time dimension are no less valid.

Yes, I am still reading this, and yes, gravity deforms space and time. But that in no way shows that Earth is not really round. The curvature of spacetime is related the the amount of mass, not the shape of that mass. Any shape Earth would curve spacetime. But only a round Earth would account for things like the north star never being visible south of the equator and always visible from north of the equator, the changing distance to the horizon as you get higher above the surface and other simple geometric observations.

And you should continue singing "sad to think that it all went over my head..." because it obviously has.

I am writing from my MC's best friend because my MC is a bit harder and more boring to do. 1) Ok, so please introduce yourself. What's your name and how old are you? My name is Leonardo "Leo" Stowers and I am 15 years old. 2) What's the first thing you ever said in your story? I said "Not yet we don't." I said that because Emilie was certian that we got the job at the insane asylum but I didn't want her to get her hopes up. 3) Do you have an item that you just can't live without? No, as long as I have my friends and family, material objects are nothing. 4) Any tattoos? Piercings?? No! 5) Got a love interest? Well, I love my best friend the "main character" but not like that...pssh... 6) Oh no! You've fallen into the Harry Potter world! What do you do? After everything I've gone through, a world of wizardry is NOTHING. 7) Ok, you're back in the real world and would you look at the time. It's 8:00pm on a friday night. I'm at a seminar in the insane asylum. 8) Tell me the last thing that happened to you. When I was 8 years old I drowned in the harbor (I am hydrophobic) and Emilie saved my life. 9) Lucky you, huh? Well, just for that i'll give you 50 bucks. What're you going to do with it? Buy Emilie something <3 10) Uh-huh, good choice. So, this brings me to my last question. You've just won two tickets to go to ANYWHERE in the world free of charge with no catches no nothing. You get to go anywhere you want for a month and get everything paid for you. Where're you going to go and who do you take? I don't need that, because I can go ANYWHERE I want for free. But since you offer money, I'd go on a vacation anywhere without a beach. Water = bad

I dont agree with that logic. The planets are entirely round, even aside from perception, they were crafted through gravitational coaelesence *spelling i know*, which means masses attracted to a single center point. Hence the earth would HAVE to be round. And yes space and the universe are of tremendous magnitude. We are but a specc , a dust particle in it.

What the heck are you talking about ? I have never seen anything warped as much as your interpretation of "science". Look at any photo from space and you'll see the earth is round. Look at the shadow of the earth during a lunar eclipse and you'll see more. Go up in a plane and you can see the curvature. If you believe strongly in what you say, perhaps you should join the Flat Earth Society.

Earth is not a true sphere. It bulges at the equator as that's where it spins fastest. In a sense you're constantly falling if Earth is viewed from Antartica. It's a bit like walking. When you take a step you're going forward and falling. But here comes the next foot forward to arrest your fall and propel you to your next fall. But mainly it's that invisible gravity that keeps you glued on. Which, by the way, becomes stronger if you descend into a mine and weaker if you climb a mountain.

I'm sorry but, if you mean 4 spatial dimensions, I can not "see" in 4 dimensions. I can see things MOVING in 4 dimensions though... "Normal" people, (as you put it) see things in 3d but they see things MOVING in 4d! See I can make a little charade to...
Space is not curved by gravity, space is curved by MASS and gravity is a product of curved space.
Thanks for pointing out that we do have a light switch in our minds, can you lend me a flashlight so I cant find the right switch and shed a little light in understanding your last paragraph!?

Edit: Now Campbell is saying gravity curves space...I tought mass curved space (by occupying it, pulling on it from all directions, therefore disturbing the spatio temporal continuum) and that gravity was a product of it...Now, I'm confused!!! Campbell if you see this please explain, I have great respect for you:)

My UFO is flat and it sure does not resemble your earth.
Earth is the only joint I've visited where so many theories are so far out,I mean way out.
Maybe I should come back and get my Kevlar, you guys aren't ready for such a leap in technology.
I would come back but you aliens are so ugly,no warts or slime or anything.
I'd call you wackos but you still have my friends body in Roswell.
I really do like you guys you are swell.

The earth globe is not exactly round.
The true shape of the earth, is ovoid, sligtly flattened on the poles, (perhaps in all planets, the centrifugue force of rotation plays a role), and the earth has a "bump" of mild elevation inthe area of west syberia....
Get the google globe, and if you measure the distances, you will see that earth is not a perfect circle. (I guess nothing in Nature is).....
Of course the assimetry, is small ( 0.7 of a mile) of difference.

I sincerely do hope that it makes you happy, sitting there in your room alone, trying to shout your view of reality to the world, comforting yourself with "I'm smarter than everyone else because they simply don't get it - it's obviously going over their heads!".

Unfortunately, the reality is that you are simply wrong!

Your astounding breaches of logic would require an essay in response but it would be of no use as you would not agree.
