This is the date known as the end of the Mayan calendar, and
when earth passes over or conjoins the Galactic Center. This

Oh the ever knowing Mayans will have their calendar for the old era will run out. They had such vision that they never saw their own demise. But I have a Barnes & Noble clendar that runs out in Feb of 2008 so the world will actually end then so you don't need to worry about 2012.

Christmass, snow in some parts of the world, rain in others.
There will be world-wide celebrations and jubilations because of my birthday.
So in short, it will look a lot like December 2011 and December 2013.

The Mayan calendar cycle will end. That's it. Earthquakes will shake cities, storms will cause destruction and floods will occur, just like on every other day of the year.
If the Mayans were any good at prophesy, their calendar would have ended when they did.
