Europe and Asia are the same continent... Eurasia. The largest continent on earth. It sits on a single tectonic plate, the Eurasian Plate.
Europe is simply West Eurasia and Asia is East Eurasia. This is why they're called East and West.

Russia is not considered Asia but rather Europe however with latest tendency of the term known as Euro-Asia , it could be called euro Asia often now a days .
Culturally and historically ethnically Russia are closer to Europe than Asia by far .
