The Raiders will pick Calvin Johnson. The new coach likes Walters and will the moves they have made in the pre-season the Raiders offensive line looks much better and so does their running game(Jordan and Rhodes splitting carries and Griffith as fullback). They might try and get Culpepper if the Dolphins release him, which looks likely since they should get Green. Imagine Culpepper to Moss again.

Why would Oakland draft Calvin Johnson anyway? He's overrated just as bad as Moss and Porter. He was only productive for about 2 or 3 weeks in college.
Russell is going to be a Daunte Culpepper clone. That's probably not worth a #1 pick because he's likely to be injury-prone (as both Culpepper and Leftwich have been) or a complete bust (like Ryan Leaf) or a long development project (Kyle Boller).
Oakland should either deal the pick or draft either Quinn or the lineman Thomas. Its Peyton Manning VS Ryan Leaf all over again, but with Keyshawn Johnson thrown in. Manning's the best pick of the three.

this is my prediction of the draft. the raiders will draft cj cause he's the best player in the draft and doesnt seem as big of a risk as jamarcuss russell is. they'll then work on the OL with the next couple picks. in the 3rd or 4th round, they'll take a risk and draft troy smith.
they wont solely depend on smith to carry the team, so they will acquire another qb through free agency or trade. they might sign culpepper if miami releases him, trade for mccown which might help, or if they're still lucky they can get a trade to go through with green bay trading moss and getting a qb. i doubt that will go through after the draft though, as the packers will get what they need in the draft, but you never know.

I don't think that the trade for McCown would affect Oakland's pick. I think that Oakland wants McCown so they have a veteren QB to take the helm for one year while Russell holds a clip board and learns the offense. I live in the Detroit area and would like to see us keep McCown, but he wants a chance to start and he can get that in Oakland. I think it is a good trade all around and gives Oakland a chance to win now and teach their QB of the future. Detroit would get another pick to try and fill one of the gapping holes in our team.

Yeah, I have to agree with you. McCown is still young, and he's not going to play when the Lions have put all the confidence in Jon Kitna. I think Calvin Johnson should be the #1 pick that the Raiders should draft, because it prevents Joey Porter or Ronald Curry from being double teamed. If you get Russell, you better have an offense line to protect him or he's going to fall flat on his face like David Carr did in his 1st season.

Because in the past they have passed on some good quarterbacks: Ben Rothlesberger, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler; just to name a few. They drafted Michael Huff last year. Now, Huff is a good football player, but he's not the immediate impact player they needed. Calvin Johnson would prosper in the NFL on any team, but right now they do still have Moss.

Being a long time Raiders fan, I hope we don't get McCown. I realize we need a good QB, I don't think McCown rates as good, he couldn't even take Kitna's job.

I think that no matter what, they'll pick CJ. It's pretty obvious that they want him. They're trying to deal Moss, which means they're done with him. Also, they're really looking for a QB.
