It's his life, let him live it. If you get on his case too much, that will only drive him away.

My husband rides a bike. Unlike your fella, he already had one when I met him, so it's not as if I could make him give it up. I hate it and worry about him getting hurt, or worse like you, especially as we have a baby and we are a family now.
Hmmm, it's a tricky one. It's not so much the bike that's dangerous is other car drivers that don't see bikes that cause most of the problems, having said that there are some bikers that are real nutters!
Explain to him your concerns and let him know you are not happy with what he's about to do. Pull on his heart strings a bit. If he REALLY wants one then you won't be able to stop him. If he does end up getting a bike then tell him to ride safely and not to do anything stupid that could land him in hospital. Make sure he gets the proper gear - can be costly but it's the only thing that is gonna save his skin should anything happen.
I'm guessing he know's how you feel, so there's not really much more you can do. He'll either get one or he won't.

I doubt anything you or anyone else will change his mind from getting a bike. Dont nag him about it, it will only make him more determined to get one. If he cant afford the bike perhaps he wont have it for very long. Just ask him to be careful each time you see him on it, that might stick in his mind whilst he is riding along.
Good luck

A few years ago I bought a motorcycle and it was my husband who was terrified about it. He had never ridden much and I love motorcycles. After he learned more about it and saw that I knew what I was doing he wasn't so worried about it and now he rides as much as I do. If you're careful and where protective gear, bikes aren't really that dangerous.

I think you have already done as much as you can.
If he decides he wants the bike more than he wants you, you will know exactly where you stand with him and you would be better off to find someone a little more grown-up to love.

You can't stop him, per se. You've drawn your line in the sand - you've told him "me or the bike". Now you will find out what is more important to him. And if he chooses the bike, I guess he will find out if you are true to your word or just a lot of hot wind.

Give him a break.... or when he gets his bike you'll be watching him ride off into the sunset!
