i've seen it several times - it's one of my favourite movies. it's set in Edinburgh, and is basically about a group of friends - some of who are addicted to heroine.... the start of the movie shows u their individual lives, and the messes they get themselves into, and the movie finishes with most of the characters coming together to try to make a lot of money from selling drugs, only for the main character (played by ewan mcgregor) to do a runner with the profits.... i know u are too young to see the movie (although i'm sure u will have heard all the swearing, etc, at school, so i fail to see what damage it would do to u - the movie doesn't exactly glamorise drugs..... quite the opposite).... but if u really want to find out the storyline in more depth, then read the book that the movie is based on.... (trainspotting by Irvine Welsh) the book is brilliant, and goes into much more detail than the movie..... only problem is that most of the book is written phonetically - which means that the words are written down in the accent that the characters are talking in...... so u have to get your head around reading in a Scottish accent ! totally worth it though... good luck..

That is a GREAT movie, but it is pretty graphic, so if you've a weak stomach, I would say stay away. I love Ewan McGregor as well, which is one of the reasons I saw the movie, but if the only reason you want to watch it is because he's in it, don't get your hopes up too much. It's not exactly his most attractive role, what with him playing an addict and what not.
It's extremely dark and twisted, but if you're still interested, I would say to watch it in a couple of years. It's pretty trippy.

OK, not crazy Scottish men (or women) and without the humour that threads through Trainspotting, but a stunningly powerful film with some of the same concerns (alcohol, drugs, poverty): Nil by Mouth, directed by Gary Oldham. Set in South London. I couldn't move for 10 minutes after I saw it and it haunted me for days.

Its a great movie with great actors and a tremondous soundtrack.
Its all about the drug scene in Scotland, and features some pretty harrowing scenes of drug use and the fallout it can cause.
It caused a stir for the drug use when it was released over here but if you watch it with an open mind its completely anti-drugs.
If your too young for the movie hold on for a few years before you see it. Its based on a novel by Irvine Welsh, the book is really good.

I'm not going to patronise you like some of the other posters did. I saw it for the first time when I was about 14 or so and it didn't do me any harm. It's a hard going film though. Ewan is great in it, but it's not exactly one of his "matinee idol" style roles like moulin rouge or down with love. It's very gritty and shows how drugs f uck up your life. It's probably rated R because of the violence, swearing, sex and drugs.

I know it s**ks because you have to wait till it's older, but really, you'll enjoy it more (with good friends) when you are able to see it. By that time, it will have become a classic!
For now, just enjoy your Harry Potter, Eragon, Pirates of the Carribean while you can. Ewan can wait.

Its a good movie. Its about a group of "friends" that live in scotland. It is mostly based around their heroin addiction and the main characters struggle to escape it.
It has some graphic scenes of sex, violence and one particularly memorable dead infant.
It's a classic but it is definately an "Adult" movie.

Grow up first! There is a reason why 13 year olds shouldn't watch films like this - you will find out why when you are old enough!
