Have you see the world lately? The closet is a safe place for them to be. I dont apporve of hiding or changing you you are, but I dont blame the gays, I blame the government, the media, and society. The United States is supposed to be a country of opportunity and choices, but still we discriminate and hate because of our differences. Gays have 2 choices:
1) we stay in the closet and live the "normal life" get a great career and lots of money. 2) Tell everyone, get kicked out of your house, get disowned by your parents, loose your friends, and end up confused about your future.
we dont have much of a choice.

What is with the people that bash gays? Really not cool.
For the lucky few who leave the closet, they will never understand those who remain in the closet. They left while others stayed.
We know closets are not cocoons, but until everyone admits they are bisexual, it might be a good place to stay.

if people weren't afraid of being judged by society and discriminated against, then people wouldn't hide in the closet.

What's with religion causing homophobic attitudes towards gay people?
What's with the media portraying that guy on guy action as gross?
What's with parents expecting grandchildren?
Maybe they don't want to disappoint people because the society we live in has set them up to that.

As a friend said, "But all my clothes are in here!"
Two of my friends made sure that they had a place to stay and a job before coming out to their parents, just in case they were kicked out. (one was, the other wasn't)

Because a lot of people can't accept the way they live, and they fear the reaction they will get or if people will see them the same way.
