Is it OK for me to make a short film about a Vampire Slayer but not mentioning Buffy The Vampire Slayer or any of it's characters? It would be kinda like a parody but not really.

I mean , It has been done before in England. They made a short film called Fluffy The English Vampire Slayer and they aired that film in Festivals. So , is it OK for me to make something like that if I don't mention Buffy?

Intellectual propetry rights might have issues if the Vampire Slayer were a character based on the Vampire Slayer characters of Buffy ie same kind of world using the same history and terminology.

If the Vampire Slayer was just a person who hunted and killed vampires then it shouldn't be a problem

GAWD, I love anything to do with vampires. Bhaw!

I think it would be fine, as long as you don't make a profit off of it (that's copywrite violation.) That is, if you are creating a paradody/satire film.

If you plan on creating your own original script, go right ahead.

I'd love to see/read it either way. Good luck.

Sure why not. I don't see how you would be breaking any laws people do parodies all the time. Good luck with your film. :)
