I'd go with "Common Sense Smart" because someone who has common sense, knows when to keep their mouth closed in certain situations and when to voice their opinions.

Case in point, watch the TV show "Bones"....The lead character, "Dr. Brennan", is HELLA Smart (Book Smart), but get her OUTSIDE of the "Jeffersonian" , or along side "Booth" during an interogation and she has no 'people skills', she has no idea what to say, how to say it or anything like that!

So, while being 'book smart' is all good and can allow you to win 74 consectutive "Jeopardy" game shows, ala "Ken Jennings", I'd still take 'common sense' smart any day of the week!

Just my $0.02 worth!

Common sense...you would be surprised at the amount of intelligent people I know who have no common sense and do the dumbest things.

I prefer a nice, even balance of both ... but if I had to choose between being around someone with one or the other - I would go with common sense.

Common sence is someting many people lack these days, and it will get you further in life than book smarts. I think my answer is obvious.
