I love watching movies at home and have a large collection of DVDs to choose from. With popcorn made in the microwave and then better qualitiy of TV sets, most people are happy to stay in the comfort of their own home. However, there are still certain types of epic pictures which need to be seen on a large screen and so off to the cinema we go. There is still that occasional need for complete escape from the real world and sitting in a dark cinema, gazing up at that massive screen and eating a " Choc Top" ice-cream is a wonderful experience.

Hi Grace: That's an interesting question. To me there's nothing like seeing a movie on the Silver Screen at the Theater. I really enjoy a good movie and I think when your invoved with an appreciative, attentive audience it makes the film better. Usually, you can find a really "pro" audience at a speciallty house or an Art HOuse Theater. I've noticed something kind of interesting at regular theaters though, no one is buying drinks and popcorn and candy any more!!! Too bad, because I just munch away. Also, I always stay to read the credits. I like to know who worked on the film, where the film was made, and soundtrack info. Now, home viewing. I've got just a single little l drawer DVD that I've had for 2 yrs. So far, so good. It's brand name is CURTIS. The reason why I bought it is because that's the name of my male MAIN COON CAT. I;ve got it running through a 7.1 800 watt SONY. "PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN" really blasts out on it. Right now I'm running everything through an old 37" Sanyo, but I'm looking at either Wall Hanging Plasmas or Projectors. I live way out in the country and with a projector I can go out in the pasture and shoot off the side of the house with Boze speakers hanging out the windows. I'm a great admirer of Hollywoods Golden Era, the Classics. But the newer movies serve all the electronics better. Have you noticed that in about the last 5 years movies have gotten better? I'm glad the long drought of terrible films is over. So long for now..........Flynn

I would rather watch a movie at home, because it is cheaper, I can pause it when necessary, and I really enjoy watching the bonus features on DVDs...which you can't do in a cinema.
My favorite films are ones based on true stories...Braveheart, Radio, Remember the Titans.... as well as heist movies like Sneakers, The Italian Job, Ocean's Twelve, etc.

i would prefer the theater--but only if there was an usher that sat in my theater during the whole movie, tossing out those who talk and answer their phones.

but since no theater i am aware of does that, if i could see a movie at home or the theater on the same day, i'd choose my home.

my favorite types of films are action and horror. come to think of it, even with the disruptive audiences, i kind of prefer to see them in the theater. to see them on a huge screen with a pumping score is really fantastic. some movies really take off on the big screen.

I prefer to watch at home. No one kicks the back of my chair, no one talks on their cell phone, no one saying "excuse me, pardon me" and stepping all over my shoes, or sticking their behind in my face....

I like Action, Adventure, Drama, and Sci-Fi...
