I think this is one of many variables. Depends on the job and the qualifications you and the other candidates have. For example, if I need someone to sit at my front desk, I would prefer someone attractive. That may come into play. Usually the more qualified candidate gets the job unless someone is looking specifically for a man or woman or looking to fill their quota. If all qualifications are the same, I believe the better looking person has the upper hand. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know if I need someone to look really professional I'm not hiring the girl with the gigantic fake hooters and loads of make up. Like I wrote before, I believe many factors come into play, but honestly if an employer wants the job done right, they will hire the most qualified candidate.

That depends on the job, but generally no. But then again, I think I'm pretty and I have gotten every job I've gone for.

That depends on the job and who's interviewing. Most respectable employers will base their hiring decisions on qualifications, but some may unconsciously choose according to looks in addition to qualifications.

Yes. Even if it isn't a man, women also feel more comfortable with more attractive people. People generally perceive people who are attractive, as more successful, happier, and more intelligent. The employer is more likely to trust their gut rather than the emprical data.

If I'm pretty SKILLED, oh yeah! But if it's just "pretty", "Never been there! Never done that!" One look at me and NOBODY'S hiring! Except for Daisy! She said, "YES!" and we're getting married! Yeah baby! The night's are gettin' longer and the urge is gettin' stronger! Mmmmm hmmmm!

studies show that pretty people are more successful, but a good resume doesn't hurt and you still have to be qualified for the job, I know this is sad but true.

That all depends on who is interviewing you. I know a lot of people that have jobs today based totally on their looks. And I know tons of people that have jobs based on merit and their skills, education, talent. So it all depends.
