down payment on a home. I got married at the jp-I didnt want bridesmaids or things like that. then threw a nice reception for about 100 people-but with out all the costly things.
Still had my a pretty white dress and flowers. But no formal wedding, and fancy reception. Just good food and company. Still got about $3000 in gifts and money.

Down payment on a home. Elaborate and expensive weddings don't buy happiness and security. They are just a way of showing to others how much you can spend.

I think the down payment should come first. Luckily since I stayed in school, lol, my FI and I were able to afford both. The lavish wedding with a budget of about 200k and a down payment, so I never had to choose. But if I had to give up one of the other, I'd give up the wedding and settle for a reception in my newly purchased house.

The home is a much better deal. Expensive weddings are just a show of conspicuous consumption. The down payment is sensible investment.

You only get to have a wedding once in your life, hopefully, so you don*t want to regret one second of it!!! There are many many ways to cut down on costs, yet still have an elegant wedding that SEEMS expensive. For instance, you never know what random talents your family members and friends have... or maybe, just maybe one of your friends has a friend who designs cakes. I say cut corners, but don*t let what*s supposed to be the best day of your life turn into a drag just because you tried to go cheap.

Down payment on a home. That's the real future of the new couple as they start their life together. Not inviting a bunch of people, who are there for the free food and booze and who could really care less whether or not you make as a married couple.

Thats a question every couple thinks about everytime. The only thing I would say is that a wedding only happens once, and deep down every woman want a real nice wedding.

A down payment on a home. A bigger return on an investment versus the gown that will only be worn once and will be utterly useless thereafter.
