Everytime that I have used Monistat it makes the yeast infection worse the day after. But then it WILL get better. It takes about 7 days for it to go away. So yes if it makes you burn, itch, etc. that's normal after using that product. Give it a few more days and see if those symptoms go away. If not go to the doctor. They can prescribe Diflucan. It's an oral medication and it works great.

It's probably painful because bad yeast infections are painful.. especially when you rub at it a lot because of the itch, which causes irritation... then even treating it is painful at first. I've never used Monistat, but one thing that works is yogurt. It sounds weird, but it's true. What I did is a made sort of yogurt-popsicles that were kind of tampon-shaped and -sized. Then you let it dissolve inside your vagina. (Then you hit the shower because it's just really odd to have yogurt dripping out of you.) It's also kind of soothing because of the cold.
Also, if you eat yogurt on a regular basis, it will tend to deter yeast problems. Acidophilus, the "good bacteria", is what staves off yeast colonies, from what I understand. There's more info in the link.
Also, if you do this, be sure to use the most genuine yogurt there is. It has more live cultures in it, so it will be more effective. A plain organic yogurt like Nancy's should do the trick. (And when you're feeling better, you can sweeten the extra with honey, throw some berries in it, and have breakfast. : ) Hope this helps..

Tomorrow morning get up out of bed and call your doctor. You may indeed have a yeast infection but it may be more intense and need to use something like Diflucan...
The last yeast infection I had I had to use two rounds of treatment. The second round I just a different med that had a different active ingredient from Monistat.
Since Monistat didn't work try one of the other types. There are three different meds you can use. Check the labels for the active ingredients to find the a different active ingredient from the active one in Monistat.

That has evolved into MORE than a yeast infection. It sounds like you have yourself a bladder infection, maybe even a KIDNEY infection. Gone untreated for much longer, you could get very very sick-deathly sick. Your body is in pain because there is something wrong. There is an over-the-counter medicine called Uristat to alleviate pain during urination. This is only to mask the pain, what you need to do is get to the root of it- an infection. Antibiotics (which I hate and will only recommend if truly needed) are NEEDED at this point:) Then, you should do a candida cleanse. But that is for later. Now, get to a doctor, even an ER. Good luck, I know it hurts so very badly. . .

Use another application of Monostat or try another brand.
There are lots of over the counter help for your condition.
I wish you well. Did you know that some antibiotics will cause a yeast infection? If it persists then see a Doc. I wish you well.
