Uhhh...Actually Princeton works pretty well with subpar players. Basically good passing and cuts would beat anybody. Fastbreaking isn't very sucessful, especially if the team is so called "mediocre" (and I'm assuming their mediocrity is in their shooting).

The Run N Gun Offense which is what the Suns use, or the Princeton Offense which the Kings have used for years.

As simple as it gets- The pick and roll. Good god, you could train a bunch of orangutans to do the pick and roll, so surely your team can pull it off effectively. Done right it can be hard to guard.

Mediocre in what sense? Poor teamwork? Poor skills? Poor in memorizing plays?
If lousy in teamwork, then clear out a side and isolate for one-on-ones.
If poor skills, try to at least teach them simple pick and rolls and hope for layups.
Difficulty in memorizing plays? At least teach them to play individual defense and rebounding, then try to run and gun.

The princeton offense! Believe me, that's what made my Sacramento Kings successful the last few years.

Run and gun. If they could outrun their opponents, they can translate that advantage into a potent offense.
