People don't like change, they don't like people that look different than they do, speak a different language than they do, act different, have different living styles and habits...
Americans fear what they don't know, and as seen from any Geography test, Americans don't know their Geography or their world cultures.
I think most people just don't want to have to deal with new people of any kind coming into their country/town/neighborhood changing their lifestyles in the least bit. People just do not want change, especially from strange-language speaking people from the south.
By the way, I am pro-legal immigration. My family immigrated to the United States from Portugal in the 1960's the legal way, and that's the way everyone should have to do it as well. Uncontrolled immigration is not good for the U.S. economy or microeconomies of its cities and towns. Just a fact of life. People should focus more on making Mexico a better place than trying to leave the country.

Everyone comes to America, our grandparents, great grandparents, came to America. Everyone comes to America for a better life. I can't understand why people would be that way either, as my best friend is Mexican & is the best person with the kindest heart, & makes the best salsa! Her family comes first, she does the work of 5 men, & always has strived for a better life. The people against those are the one's that are opposed to a lower standard of living, whereas that employer could be paying a living wage, but uses the illegals as "cheap labor", and gets away with it. This is not the American way, this is thieving from our standard of living, an unfair wage to the worker, it keeps the wage earner down instead of achieving the American dream, which is no longer possible to obtain, when the worker is kept poor, while the rich get richer.

"Race" is a racist term. There is only one "race" and we all belong to it. The Human race. The word "Nationality" is more appropriate. If Mexicans are hated, it is because this group is the latest to come to America in large numbers. Hatred for immigrants is nothing new. In the '80s, it was the Arabs. I live near Detroit and most communities are very culturally diverse, which is good. We can all learn from each other if we can open our minds and be respectful of all people. THAT - being respectful - is becoming a huge problem with kids nowadays, and it will lead to terrible things if not checked now.

Laws. Being here illegally, is a felony. We have enough of our own felons, and enough people on taxpayer-financed assistance without bringing in more from Mexico. What is broken is your corrupted government run by the elite and crime lords, and those who want to turn the USA into Mexico, want illegal aliens to come in and show us how to be good little servants. We demand better of our government, you need to demand better of yours. At least, if Mexico and the USA had the same laws on immigration and foreign investment, Mexico would have a better economy and families wouldn't get torn apart. There are not enough decent jobs for native Americans to be able to buy a home, get married and raise a family as it is due to export of manufacturing and high tech overseas, and having a greater number of laborers for the remaining service jobs means the weathly class can pay the laborers less money, so us natives get upset with having to pay taxes to help support, shleter and pay medical and education expenses for those who are here illegally, pay no taxes, and send their money back into teh Mexican economy, not ours. Plus, our social security system is about to implode, adding Mexican workers is going to make it a disaster, and our country gets 4 billion dollars deeper in foreign debt everyday while congress pisses and moans about firing 8 stupid lawyers. It's not personal, it's just our country (USA) is failing to take care of it's own while bankrupting and ruining any hope we have of a decent financial future. And when people lose hope and get desperate they get angry and look for someone to blame, illegal immigrants are too easy a target. Race has nothing to do with it, but it's always an easy way to divide "us" from "them", if not that it would be religion or political affiliation as in Northern Ireland or the Middle East. Too many people, too few resources - trouble. That is human nature.

First Mexicans are not a race. Second you are confusing the policy of the citizens of this country to set our immigration policy for the good of our country not the needs of illegal aliens (be they Mexicans or other) that show up uninvited (business's hiring illegal for cheap labor is breaking the law both on part of the illegals and the business). We are angry that we have to shoulder the cost of illegal immigration. (schooling, medical bills, and many others) When you call yourself "us Mexicans" that adds fuel to the fire, I feel that you are availing yourself of the best of this country but still keeping your legends to a foreign country. A foreign country that by all accounts make the rich richer and encourages the poor to sneak across border and then demands rights that they are not in tittled to. As for being deported, that's the risk you take when you break our laws.

It is not your race that people have a problem with. Here's the problem: many Mexicans are here illegally, which means they do not pay taxes. However, our tax money is required to support illegal immigrants.
Illegal aliens have cost billion of taxpayer-funded dollars for medical services. Dozens of hospitals in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California have been forced to close or face bankruptcy because of federally-mandated programs requiring free emergency room services to illegal aliens. Taxpayers pay more than $500,000,000 per year incarcerating illegal alien criminals.
FAIR research shows the net annual cost of immigration has been estimated at $87 billion per year. Education costs of illegal immigrants costs $7.5 billion - enough to buy a computer for every junior high student nationwide.
There are plenty of non-monetary factors which also peeve many Americans. First, many illegals have no desire to assimilate into America culture, such as learning the language. One of Mexico's largest revenue streams consists of money sent home by Mexicans living in the U.S.
Maybe I should ask you: why is the official policy of the Mexican government so racist? Why do they send people to the U.S. whom they cannot support with their own corrupt, inefficient government? Why doesn't the Mexican government offer to reimburse the United States for the money we spend caring for their citizens?

All non- citizens are threatened with deportaion if they break the laws of the country they are in, whether or not they are here legally or not. That being said i work with many people from south of the border who never bothered to learn english before moving to the US and don't even try while they are here. If i was planning on moving to Mexico you can be damned assured that i would learn spanish fluently before i left. it is sad however that those who are on their path to citizenship legally and who have bothered to educate themselves about their new home are lumped in with the rest of the "mexicans".

Most Americans hold no personal hatred for the Mexican people, we simply dislike you breaking our laws, one of which states that to come here you must enter our immigration system. If you sneak into our country, regardless of motive, then you are breaking the law. If you break the law then most Americans will dislike what you are doing.
Further, if you break our immigration laws then you should be deported immediately. If you want to become an American do it as all our ancestors did, apply for citizenship. If you do so America will welcome you.

Please know that everyone in the USA is not against you if you are here in the proper way. The distinction is "illegals" with whom I personally have great sympathy.
The very fact that you're asking questions like this shows that you care enough to establish yourself and if you;'re a legal entrant to the USA, you should be able to carry forward and get the better life you're seeking.
My best wishes to you.
